How We Compare — Criteria & Evidence

We do not currently provide a validated, universal numerical score for every hosting or cloud provider. The criteria below guide comparisons; they are not results from a completed laboratory test programme.

Cost over the period you will use

Compare first-term and renewal costs, taxes, setup fees, storage, bandwidth, backup, IPv4 and cancellation terms. A low advertised rate is not necessarily the lowest total bill. Show the assumptions behind any cost calculation.

Resources and workload fit

Match the actual product: shared hosting is not a VPS, shared vCPU is not dedicated CPU, and different GPU models are not equivalent. State memory, storage, region and operational responsibilities rather than treating all entry-level plans as interchangeable.

Performance and reliability

Provider specifications and service-level agreements are claims and contractual terms, not our measurements. Report measured performance only with configuration, location, test date, workload, sample size and results. Do not infer uptime or speed from a brand name or monthly price.

Support and usability

Describe documented support channels, service hours and management responsibilities. Claims about response time or resolution quality require actual records and context. A support experience with one plan does not establish a provider-wide ranking.

Recommendations and limitations

Explain which workload an option may suit and which trade-offs could rule it out. Missing evidence should remain unknown, not become a zero score or an invented rating. We do not claim an Editor’s Choice winner based on undocumented tests.

If we publish a scored test

That article must show its rubric, weights, underlying measurements, test conditions and limitations. A score belongs to that tested configuration and date; it cannot be generalized to every plan. Until such evidence exists, use the source-linked comparisons rather than a numerical league table.
