Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between transactional and marketing email?
Transactional email is 1-to-1 (password resets, receipts, alerts). Marketing email is 1-to-many (newsletters, campaigns). Some services do both, others specialize. Resend and Postmark focus on transactional; SendGrid covers both.
How should I think about deliverability?
There is no universal deliverability winner. Inbox placement depends on authentication, list quality, sending practices, reputation, message content and recipient providers. This page does not run an independent deliverability test; use each provider’s documentation and status information for the current details.
How much do these email services cost?
Resend lists 3,000 emails/month free and a $20/month Pro plan for 50,000. SendGrid’s official plan sheet lists Essentials at $19.95/month for 50,000. Postmark lists a free 100-email/month developer plan and Basic at $15/month for 10,000. Amazon SES lists $0.10 per 1,000 recipients for à-la-carte outbound email; its current Essentials plan lists $0.16 per 1,000 for the first tier. These figures exclude possible overage, attachment, dedicated-IP, data-transfer, tax or related AWS/service charges.
Is Amazon SES hard to set up?
SES can require more setup, including identity/domain verification, sending-limit or sandbox considerations and AWS permissions. Its total cost can also include attachment data, dedicated IPs, other AWS services and any applicable pricing-plan charges. Compare the provider documentation and your actual volume before choosing.
How should I compare the total cost?
Use the monthly plan price as a starting point, then add overage, included and excess volume, dedicated IPs, extra domains, data or attachment charges, automation runs, support, taxes and any related cloud-service costs. A lower per-email rate is not automatically the lower invoice for your workload.
How was this comparison built?
We checked the providers’ public pricing and product pages on October 13, 2026. The cards use published entry plans and clearly stated limits; they are not an independent deliverability benchmark. Verify the final quote and regional terms before purchase.
